Police Department operations are conducted from the Martin J. Conroy Center, 1000 W. Schaumburg Rd., which also houses the emergency 9-1-1 Communications Center.

It is the responsibility of the police department to preserve the public peace, prevent crime, protect life and property, apprehend criminals and detect and arrest those who break the law or disregard Village ordinances. The department also regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic and offers a wide variety of educational, safety and crime prevention programs.

The department has fully embraced the community policing philosophy addressing problem solving, reducing crime and the perception of crime, and improving the quality of life in our community. This is accomplished by ongoing interaction and partnerships with residents, schools, businesses, other village departments and elected officials.

Services of the Police Department include alcohol awareness training for bartenders; beat team meetings; Crime Free Multi Housing; Domestic Violence Response Team; Citizens Police Academy; Officer Friendly Program for school children; Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) for sixth grade elementary students; summer bike safety programs including bike "rodeo" registrations and bikeway patrols; providing speakers on various crime prevention programs; vehicle identification program; Neighborhood Watch; and Child Safety Seat Inspections.
